Course Description: Cage side abdominal ultrasound it is used every day in the emergency setting. It is very helpful as part of the triage and also as a diagnostic tool. This session is intended to present the base of cage side abdominal ultrasound, normal and abnormal findings and most common differentials. After this session we hope you will feel comfortable to use your cage side abdominal ultrasound in your daily emergencies and will help you guide your patient stabilization, diagnostic and treatment plan!

Dr. Emilia Terradas Crespo is originally from Spain, specifically from Mallorca, a little island in the Mediterranean see. She finished her veterinary degree in 2012 in Canary Islands and followed graduation with a rotating internship in private practice in Belgium. She did an official rotating internship after that at the University of Liège, also in Belgium, and then moved to Southampton, UK, to work as overnight Emergency Clinician for VetsNow for 2 years. She decided then that she wanted to do a residency in ECC and applied to the Matching Program and was accepted to do an Emergency and Critical Care Internship at WSU last year, where she continued her residency and is currently finishing her first year as a resident. Outside of work, she loves the outdoors especially when it involves her dog, Dingo. She adores traveling, exploring new places and cultures. She misses her friends and family a lot but does really enjoy her work, emergency medicine and surgery can be very demanding but also very rewarding!

Dr. Linda Martin is an Associate Professor at Washington State University (WSU) and established the Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Service in 2013. She is a graduate of Colorado State University, where she also completed her residency. She was in private practice at an emergency and multispecialty hospital in Denver, CO and was also a faculty member at Auburn University before coming to WSU. She has served as a member of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Board of Regents and is currently the President of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. She has authored over 100 publications (including journal articles, book chapters, conference proceedings, and abstracts) and has lectured extensively at international, national, and regional meetings. Her research interests include the role of critical illness on the pituitary-adrenal axis, fluid therapy, and electrolyte disorders.
